Trick shot

In the last blog, I introduced many types of skill hit, but I limited the hit point on the cue ball, that's because it will cause really unbelievable path which is hard to control and not useful during the game. But in those shows on trick shot, it's the basic thing that players need to do, through these hits on extreme position, there will be many awesome shot get appeared.

Hit the exactly top part of the cue ball, it will move forward for a while and then make a turn and going backwards,and the path is like a parabola. And hit almost the bottom of the ball will make the ball jump and go backwards. Relying on the cushion of the table, players also can use topspin ball and strong power to bounce back to the table and still go forward. These trick shot players usually will have racks or clubs as assistance, they can help them to calculate angles better and also they will make the trick seemed to be more difficult.  The trick is for showing with happiness, now let's enjoy some of it.

Skill Hit

Skill hit is a useful skill that can help you to have a better control on the cue ball's path through hitting different part of the ball. It's the most neccessary thing that players need to learn, because it can do a lot of assistance in the game. As it's hard to hit the ball on the side, top and bottom, so the area that players can hit is limited in the small surface that towards the player, which can be classified into 5 parts, top, bottom, center, left and right. The five small circle symplify the five parts. The center one will be the regular hit, so the introduction will be about the other four.

First, let's try to hit in the top part, it will make your cue ball continue moving as the same direction and lose a little speed after it collides the object ball. This kind of hit is called a topspin ball, it also sometimes can avoid the pot of the cue ball, let's see the following video.

 Second, hit the bottom part can produce two practical effect. One is the plain ball, which will make the cue ball stop immediately after it collides the object ball;  the other one is called back spin ball,  which will make the cue ball go almost exactly the opposite direction after it hits the object ball.  Finally, it's about the hit on two sides part. Side spin ball can make the path of the cue ball be a curve instead of a straight line. It's pretty useful in the certain situation, for example, if there exists a ball between the cue ball and the object ball, and jump ball is too risky to do during the snooker, players will usually use side spin ball to make the cue ball move in a curve to avoid the collision on the ball that blocks the straight line path. And when a side spin ball bounce the cushion, it will also have an unexpected effect, let's get into the video and find it out.

Snooker

Snooker, which is the most famous style of all the billiards, originates from Britain. Compared to eight ball and nine ball, it's much more complicated and difficult, which is not only showed by more balls and complex rules, but also the table is bigger and the pocket is smaller.
While playing snooker, there will be 15 red balls which form a triangle on the table and also 6 colorful ball put on the certain place, cue ball will still be on the other side from the red balls, and it should be put in the small semicircle with white line on the table.
Every time the player pot in one or more red balls which worth only one point, he got the qualification to hit those colorful balls which worth two to seven points differ from the color. And then no matter you pot in or not the colorful ball, you need to turn back on hitting those red balls, and those colorful balls which get into the pocket will be put back on the original position immediately after they fall into the pocket. When all the red balls get cleaned, the player needs to hit those colorful balls by the order of the points they worth, from 2 point ball the yellow ball, to the 7 point ball the black ball. The pot of the black seven announced the finishing of the game, then compare the points both player get, and the winner will be the one with higher points.
As there is certain limit on jump shot in the snooker, if the player jump shot the cue ball and it hit the object ball while the cue ball doesn’t touch the table, this hit will be judged as foul, so jump shot is so risky that players aren’t willing to try it in the game. Some audience think that this limit restricts the colorfulness of the snooker, but actually this limit also helped the birth of a new strategy which is called to make snooker, the players can control the cue ball to move to a place that has one or more balls blocking on the route from the cue ball to the object ball that their opponents will hit, which can make them foul. In the snooker, the penalty for foul is not only that the opponents can put the cue ball everywhere in the semicircle, but also they can add 5 points.
If everytime you pot in a red ball, you choose the black seven as the object ball and pot in, meanwhile you don't miss any hit, then you will get 147 points which is the highest points that the players can get in one continuous series of hit. Let's enjoy one 147 show.

Nine Ball

As a very similar style of 8 Ball, nine Ball receive more reputation and audience in the world of billiards. It has less balls on the table, but it require more skills. All the balls that's on the table is labeled from one to nine, they will put in the shape of diamond on one side of the table while the cue ball is on the other side.

The players need to hit the ball in order from 1 to 9,  which means that players have to hit the least number on the table directly, in order to initate  some excitement, players can hit the target ball that they are forced to first, and then rely on the target ball colliding other balls to pot them in, if that happened, this player can still keep playing, and who pot in the ball with number nine win the whole game. So actually the first eight ball won't decide anything about the game.

Depending on the rule, we can see that the most important skill for the game should be the control of the cue ball. Some people will think that the power is more important for the game, because if the player hit the ball in extreme strong power, there will be a possiblity that some other balls or even the nine ball will get into the pocket by accident. But let's think in this way, the possibilty for that happens will be much lower than the following suitation happens, such as the nine ball get very close to the pocket or the cue ball moves to a place that your opponent can clear the table or even find an angle to pot into the nine ball indirectly by the collision of the target ball. So focus more on the position of the cue ball will help a lot on playing nine balls, maybe sometimes you can't find a suitable way to pot in the target ball, it doesn't matter, you can control the cue ball and leave it in a bad position for your opponent to hit, and after he made a foul or something, then it will be your chance to keep potting and clear the table.

8 Ball Billiards

8 Ball is the most popular style of Billiards in the States. It has 16 balls on the pool table, and 15 of them are marked with numbers, those balls with number 1 to 7 are named solid balls, while those balls with number 9 to 15 are stripe balls, and the only ball that is completely white is cue ball, and as it's called 8 Ball, that black ball with number 8 has to be very important during the game, actually it's a special ball, win or loss all depend on it, you can understand in the later introduction. The cue ball which is for hitting other balls into the pocket will be put on one side of the pool table, and other balls will be put together on the table in a shape of triangle on the other side.

In a typical 8 Ball game, in the beginning, players just need to try to pot, and after the first pot is done, there are some rules applied on the game. For the player who pot in the first ball, he can choose set either solids or stripes balls as object balls, if players hit the object balls indirectly, they will be given a penalty, and their opponents will get a chance to put the cue balls wherever they want and start on fire. The player who pot in all the balls that he chose can hit the black eight and then if he also pot in the black eight at last, then he won the game. But if he didn't finish all the balls that he need to pot in, and by accident, the Black eight slowly move into the pocket, you lose directly. And in more professional occasion, player will be asked to point the pocket he want to pot the Black eight in, if the Black eight goes into the other 5 pockets, he lose the game too. So now we can see how the Black eight is determining the victory of the game.

Actually, among most formal kinds of Billiards, 8 Ball is the most suitable one for those people who are new to the Billiards. If you pot in one ball, no matter if that's the kinds of object ball you chose or not, you can continue to play on the table. So many people believe in using strong power to play on 8 Ball, and they call it '' strong power makes the birth of miracle." But in those professional game. Nice skill should take place the strong power. Everytime you pot into a ball, accurate power and angle will help to control your cue ball to be in good position for potting in another ball.
